"No response to my claim"
I broke a bone in my wrist back in early November and had to get surgery on short notice to prevent serious long-term issues. I reached out to the Big Cat emergency helpline to file my claim and got a reference number, but later got an email saying my claim was never actually submitted. They said it was my fault, but honestly, I don’t get why since their messages were so brief and unhelpful. I went ahead and submitted a claim through their website as they instructed, including all my receipts, expenses, and a summary of the fees I’ve paid. Since then, I've heard absolutely nothing from Big Cat, except for an automated email confirming my submission. I've followed up twice since then and still no response. This whole ordeal has dragged on for almost two months now, and I’m out nearly £2,000 in expenses, with more on the way. I’m really let down that I had to come to TrustPilot to share this, as I’ve never felt the need to warn others about such a stressful and cold experience with a company. It’s been incredibly disappointing, and I hope this is just a one-time issue that can be fixed. Dealing with £2,000 in unexpected costs might not seem like a big deal to those handling my claim, but it’s caused a lot of stress and trouble in our lives.

"Great support, fast resolution"
Had to cancel a top-notch hiking trip (Tour de Mt Blanc) since my buddy got a knee issue just a week before we were set to go. Big Cat was super helpful, and the claim got sorted out way faster than I thought it would. Really happy with the service and will surely use them again.

"No such thing as a partial early refund..."
I purchased insurance for a working holiday in Canada. They say they provide a partial refund for early returns. Because of COVID, I had to keep extending my policy, and I never made it to Canada. My policy was active for a while as I held out hope for the trip. I started trying to get my partial refund back in June, but they just ignored my messages. I reached out again and finally got a response in September, but they refused to give me any money back since I can't prove I didn't go to Canada. I mean, I didn’t even set foot there! This company is a total joke, and that so-called 'partial early return refund' is just a myth. I was even told in an earlier email that I could get it if I didn’t travel.

"Insurance Misrepresentation by Staff - Ombudsman Intervention"
I had to battle for my claim for more than a year, and it only got sorted after I reached out to the Ombudsman. This company is a total mess; they even altered their website language after I filed my curtailment claim to suggest I wasn't covered. Seriously, steer clear unless you’re up for a whole lot of stress and trouble. Edit in reply to Big Cat: while you and the claim handlers took a year to dodge paying out, I was the primary caregiver for a parent battling stage 4 cancer and really didn’t need all that added stress. If I could’ve given zero stars, I would’ve.

"Grateful for This Company: My Journey to Canada"
I can't express my gratitude enough for this company. I had a work permit to be in Canada through the IeC program, and one of the must-haves was a two-year insurance policy related to IeC. No one else would give me a chance because of my preexisting conditions from my transplant, but this company let me get the policy as long as I was clear that I’d be responsible for those conditions, which I was totally okay with. Big Cat, you really came through for me!

"Trekking to Everest with Big Cat..."
I went with Big Cat for my trek to Everest Base Camp since they provide the necessary coverage. It was easy to navigate and pretty straightforward. I'd definitely choose them again for future travels. I had to reach out to them about the policy, and they gave me all the info I needed. Overall, I'm pleased with the service.

"Simple Process"
Currently, we’re in South Africa and looking to extend our stay beyond the allowed 60 days. We needed to get new insurance for a couple both over 50. While we still think it’s pricey, it was the only simple option that gave us some peace of mind in case anything goes awry. Fingers crossed nothing happens, but if it does, we’ll see if it really works. Overall, everything was handled pretty smoothly through the internet and emails.

"Grateful to Big Cat for the insurance options..."
I really appreciate Big Cat for offering an insurance policy that matched my requirements. I’m a 66-year-old woman, still in great shape, and I was pretty frustrated trying to find a suitable policy at first. Thankfully, Big Cat seems to have everything I need for my trek at a high altitude, over 5000 metres. My only concern is that they don’t send out paper confirmations, so I had to print it myself, which is a bit of a hassle but necessary for proof. Thanks, and I’ll definitely be back next May!

"Super Impressed with Big Cat"
Every staff member I chatted with was super knowledgeable and incredibly patient with all my queries during several talks. Their policy for the 2-year IEC in Canada is fantastic, allowing unlimited trips back home or to other places. I totally recommend Big Cat since they’re really friendly and offer great rates. "Big Cat Insurance left me hanging..."
While I was stuck in lockdown in Tenerife, I was told by Big Cat Insurance that my curtailed holiday would be covered since it was due to government-mandated quarantine on the doctors' advice. However, the claims team has turned down any request for compensation. I've reached out to the claims handler, but they’ve chosen to ignore my response.
